This little creature has been called into existence by my imagination a longer time ago. I had been trying to write a fantasy novel back then (I think I was fourteen) and it was one of the creatures inhabiting the world where the book was supposed to be set. There were countless more - but I guess I was just fascinated most by this one here. I know that it might be a bit difficult to make out details. The animal is hanging from a branch by its tail and the head is looking downwards. It's got the head slightly turned backwards, so one can see its eyes staring to some place.

About the Izibi:
They inhabit the lush forests of the island of Monn. Even though they show a slight resemblance to birds they share nothing with them but the beak and to a certain extent also the eyes. They have grown a fur and bat wings instead of feathers. They are frugivorous and also have a preference for the sweet berries of the glow-blossom trees. You can sometimes observe them in clouds swarming from tree to tree in warm spring sunsets.
Their natural animals are the humans, who sometimes, but not very often, would hunt them, then Kerbu, the soundless predators of the forest who are a little more but a shadow under the trees, and the Azwour, huge but gentle flying creatures from the mountains which sometimes come down to hunt the creatures of the woods.

I don't know if this creature is evolutionary right or if this would work in the sense of anatomy, since I know very little of animal build and structure. Since this is a sketch that I did during my lectures at uni this will wander into scraps soon. But a friend asked if I could do a more realistic version of the whole thing and I sort of agreed to that. So I need to know more about animal anatomy and more about muscles and tendons if I really want to make it good. And for this I NEED YOUR HELP - if anybody knows about animal anatomy or can tell me how to place bones and muscles so that the Izibi could do flying and movement PLEASE tell me so.... I'd really like to know.

Yours
Sythiar

PS: Thanks to *a-neon-devil-breath for advising me to buy a better graphite crayon. I now have a 6B one and really fell in love with it - even though I don't really master it very well yet... but I'll try my best.

If you wanted to do a more realistic version, wouldn't it be okay to have it have bones in its wings but hollow like a bird? And give it strong muscles too...

The picture though is highly detailed and almost resembles something of a vampire bat from Mexico...very well done...

The little brother of Merillian...
Yeah, the bones deffinitely have to be hollow. But that's not something one can see. I need details on bone structure and anatomy... but I thank you very much for the comment and the compliment.

I woke up and had this strange organic object in my hand. I've never seen anything quite like this before. It opened its eye and looked and me and said: 'How about an orange?'

Sieh dich doch mal an. In deinem Gesicht zerbricht jegliche Fantasie!
Just look at yourself. Any imagination shatters at
your sight!
Speaking of stories... whatever became of that little character you had... I think it's name was Elu? o.o

Impia tortorum longos hic turba furores
Sanguinis innocui, non satiata, aluit.
Sospite nunc patria, fracto nunc funeris antro,
Mors ubi dira fuit vita salusque patent.
Oh, right. Elu of the Red Moon. He should have appeared in a continuation of Voyages. But there is none - so he no longer has a purpose anymore. The only thing that still remains of him is the drawing on Diana's Realm. And that's it. And if you're on about the forum of the Red Moon - I deleted the link to it on Diana's Realm because of a lack of traffic and time to host it. Ah well... that's (internet) life...

That is very cute! :D

Wish I could help with the anatomy thing, but I'm not all that good at it myself. All I can say is that it would probably have to have muscles in its (legs? leg-wings?) that would allow for both upward wingstrokes and downward wingstrokes. And the bones would most likely be hollow. And that's basically as much as I can say to help.

Very cute critter though.

Women= Menwith Womb. So "Man" in "Mankind" applies to both genders! :P
Thank you ^^!

Oh, btw - did you see the preview I posted of an Emmy PVM edit in my scraps? I may make a playable Emmy in Sonic Adventure DX. If I'm really up to it, that means.

Here's the [link] You may find it interesting.
