What is Uru (from my perspective)?

Uru is part of the Myst franchise and should appeal to everyone who has played Myst. It's not your standard online game in the sense that you go and kill as many foes as possible or that it forces you to level up constantly in order to keep pace with other players. Rather more it offers the player a set of stunningly detailed and fantastic worlds with a great deal of non-trivial history behind it. The main focus of the game is puzzles rather than button mashing and leveling. It takes brains rather more than brawn to play through Uru - and as this is a MMOG a lot of these puzzles also depend on and/or are made easier through cooperation with other players.

Uru is a casual game. It offers a break after a hard day of work without being intrusive or addictive (unless you let it be) and you can stop at any point of the game. As one of the main characters, Yeesha, emphasizes: the journey is the goal here, rather than completion.

Also the community of Uru is quite unique. Everybody is welcoming and helpful and the people are an intelligent and benevolent crowd.

All in all, in spite of its age (it came out in 2003) the atmosphere of the whole game is just breathtaking and its certainly worth looking into.
