After over a year of silence I finally have some news I consider worthy of posting.

I am currently in Beijing!
And the reason for my being here is both for work and for fun. First I'm going to attend a conference and then I'll be travelling around with my boyfriend.

After a reasonably tiring flight (as tiring as these things get anyway), I am now writing this message from a hotel room twice the size of my bedroom. It's amazing. I'm both exhilarated and ready to fall on my bed and sleep through until tomorrow morning, and, believe me, that is a strange mix of emotions and states. But, I'm also terribly thirsty right now and need to organize some food and water, and I need to prepare a workshop we will hold on Saturday through the entire day. So I can't go to bed just yet.

I'm currently at a convention centre, which has just about everything one can think of, including hot springs and spa (but also a lot of construction work going on), so I'm itching to take in all the sights and sounds, no matter how ugly or how beautiful. China is rather overwhelming already and I'm still have this lingering feeling of surreality I need to shake off. But I'm adjusting a bit already. Especially to the weather (which is hot and humid - just what I love).
After the conference I'm attending, I'm going to travel around for another three weeks. I'm possibly going to write a blog about all this with tons of photos for you to look at after I've returned.
